Top 10 Festival Acts You Don’t Want to Miss this Summer

Given the current weather, at least here in the U.K., the summer festival season must seem light years away. But ‘the festival’ is a business that runs all year round because of winter variations of course  – but also the constant stream of line-up news. This can seem quite intimidating so we’ve got a helpful run down of just a few to look out for.

These are ten festival acts you don’t want to miss, you might know them, you might not – but they will be the the names on goers lips as wristbands are allocated:

1. 

Who? Cardi-B 

Why? Because she had a huge huge huge 2018 & in 2019 continues to be both newsworthy and artistically honest.  

Where? Beach Bash, Port of Gold, Flyover, Hangout, Primavera, Bonnarro, Wireless

2.

Who? Kings of Leon

Why? After a relatively quiet few years, the KOL are the consummate, bonafide, BIG festival arena band.

Where? P’al Norte, Lollapalloza, Benicassim

3.

Who? Jon Hopkins

Why? His critically-acclaimed 2018 album ‘Singularity’ was a sonic attack on the senses. His live performances channel this, but turned up to 10.

Who? Childish Gambino

Why? Donald Glover is both performer and polymath. On the back of another successful period on screen, he returns to his Hip-Hop/Soul/Funk persona.

Who? Foo Fighters

Why? The archetypal ‘festival band’ – reliable, dynamic, legendary.  

Where? Epicenter, Sonic Temple, Southside, Hurricane, Lollapalooza, Sziget, Reading/Leeds

Who? Lana Del Rey

Why? The elusive star brings her mysterious yet alluring presence to the festival circuit. 

Where? Tinderbox, Lollapalooza, Benicassim, Super Bock Super Rock, Latitude

Who? Tame Impala

Why? The laid-back Aussies have universal appeal. But that understates just how great their sound is, and perfect for those summer days/evenings.

Who? Kamasi Washington

Why? For the jazz aficionados and beyond, there is nobody crossing the line from the dark jazz halls into mainstream music like KW.

Where? Lollapalooza, North Sea, Brighton Funk & Soul Weekender

9.

Who? Arctic Monkeys

Why? Everyone’s favourite Sheffield sons return to cement their legacy as the ‘greatest British band around’ (possibly)

Where? Pa’l Norte, Lollapalooza, Estered Picnic

10.

Who? The Strokes

Why? A mix of hip nostalgia and quintessentially New Yawk sound provides the perfect cocktail for Julian & co to bring to festival crowds.
